For our November meeting we ask that each member bring a finger food (a beverage, dessert, etc.) to share for a pot luck party. Also bring your beading supplies. We will be beading "Bottles of Hope." Bottles of Hope are small glass medicine vials that are used for chemotherapy.
When beautifully hand-decorated, the bottles are redistributed to cancer patients as symbols of hope - something unpleasant turned pleasant. Decorated bottles will be donated to the Cancer Center of America and other charities. You can learn more at Bottlesofhope.org .
At this meeting several members will teach stitches such as peyote, right angle weave and netting that can be used to cover the bottles.
Note: The larger vials are only 2 inches tall and 1 1/4 inches in diameter -- so choose bead and thread size accordingly.
Your beading supplies should include:
- beads in any combination ( 6's, 8's, 11's, 15's, crystals, pearls, etc.)
- needles
- stitching thread or fireline
- beading surface
- magnifying glasses, light w/extension cord, and any other supplies that you normally use for beading
